FLAVOURS OF HILLS
Pahadi food is a celebration of the hills — simple, seasonal, and deeply rooted in tradition. Made with local grains like madua, wholesome pulses like gahat and bhatt, and wild herbs like jakhiya, every dish reflects the wisdom of our ancestors and the rhythm of nature. It’s not just about feeding the body, but nourishing the soul — the kind of food that carries the warmth of Nani’s hands, the scent of chulha smoke, and the memories of shared laughter around a wooden floor. From festive thalis to everyday jholi, Pahadi cuisine brings together taste, health, and heritage in every bite

MEET NANI
Born in Siradi Ram Mandir, Pithoragarh, my Nani has always been the picture of peace — helpful, soft-spoken, sabki favourite.
But behind the scenes?
She’s a full-blown pahadi sitcom in a saree.
She’ll serve chai with a smile, then roast you like bhatt ki daal for forgetting to cover it.
She mimics everyone — from relatives to that one nosy aunty — with Oscar-level talent.
And when she dances? Even the pressure cooker whistles in beat.
She got married young and picked up cooking like a superpower.
No written recipes. No measurements. Just andaaz, drama, and silent judging if your rotis aren’t round.
Ask her for a recipe and she’ll say,
“Pehle thoda pyaar daal, baaki toh bas haath ka khel hai.”
This pantry?
It’s her personality in shelf form — spicy, soulful, and slightly chaotic (just like her chutney drawer)
